The Confident Woman Devotional – In Due Season (pt. 10)

Last Monday’s Devotional Topic — In Due Season

It reads:

“Due season” is God‘s season, not ours. We are in a hurry, God isn’t. He takes time to do things right – He lays a solid foundation before He attempts to build a building. We are God’s building under construction. He is the Master Builder, and He knows what He is doing. We may not know what He is doing, but He does, and that will have to be good enough. We may not always know, but we can be satisfied to know the One who knows.

God’s timing seems to be His own little secret. The Bible promises us that He will never be late, but I have also discovered that He is usually not early. It seems that He takes every available opportunity to develop the fruit of patience in us. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit that grows under trial.

Developed potential without character does not glorify God. If we were to become a huge success and yet be harsh with people – that would not be pleasing to the Lord. Therefore, if we get ahead of ourselves in one area, He gently but firmly blocks our progress in that area until the other ones catch up.

Remember: God is never late.

Pray:

Lord, thank You for Your patience with me. I want everything now, but You are building my life with eternity in mind. I don’t understand everything You’re doing, but I trust You. Amen.

Scripture: Galatians 6:9

9 Don’t get tired of helping others. You will be rewarded when the time is right, if you don’t give up.

Here’s what I have to say —

I know that there A  LOT of times when we as humans want exactly what we want when we want it. But we have to think of the bigger picture. It’s not about what we want — it’s about what God wants and already has in store for us. We want the car. We want the clothes. We want the good man/woman. We want this and we want that. But if we really had it right now, we would ABSOLUTELY not know what to do with it or how to appreciate it. That’s why waiting on God’s time is so important. If we lead ourselves and just decided to give ourselves whatever we want when we wanted it, we would ourselves into so much unnecessary trouble. The Bible says that we are already promised trouble here on Earth. Now if we are already promised trouble, why would we EVER decide to go and add new trouble on top of the trouble we are already promised? Doesn’t make much sense to me.

And for the sake of argument, let’s just say that God did give us what we wanted as soon as we knew and realized that we wanted something. Now if you did not have it previously, then that means that you were not ready for it. So you want it, but your not ready for it and God gives it to  you anyway just because you asked. Hmmm… Now to me, it seems like whatever it is that you wanted would go unappreciated. Think about it. If you’re not ready for something and you do not fully understand why it’s here and how it can benefit you, then it’s a waste. And what God gave you no longer has any meaning to it and no longer has any meaning to YOU. To me, that sounds like a slap in the face to God. He blessed you and you didn’t appreciate it. You never want to become unappreciative of something that God has blessed you with. He can take it away just as fast as He blessed you with it. Then you are back at square one. Looks to me like you should have just waited on God’s timing in the first place and you would have gotten your heart’s desire — in due season. ♥
